Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Kimberly has dedicated most of her career to serving the Federal government. She received numerous awards and citations during her service with the United States Army and her career as a federal contractor, including a National Citation from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, and several Exemplary Performance Awards for other Department of Defense agencies.
With extensive experience in acquisition program management, project management, and product development, Kimberly has led the development of PMOs focusing on sustainable and repeatable processes that promote efficiency and increase your return on investment. While maintaining focus on delivering programs on time and within budget, she effectively managed programs valued at over $650M.
Kimberly currently serves on the Board of Directors for Women Impacting Public Policy, a national nonpartisan organization advocating on behalf of women entrepreneurs—strengthening their impact on our nation’s public policy, creating economic opportunities, and forging alliances with other business organizations. She also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Chesapeake Shakespeare Company. Kimberly is a member of Women President’s Organization (WPO), a premier membership organization for women presidents, CEOs, and managing directors of privately held multimillion-dollar companies.
After 16 years of working for large Consulting firms, Kimberly often felt disconnected from the company. More often than not, she felt as though she was just a number. Kimberly desired to change that for employees of government contractors. So in 2011, she co-founded Applied Development with Biffrey Braxton and has not looked back. At Applied Development, Kimberly focuses on leadership, strategy, and business development.
Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer
As Chief Operating Officer, Biffrey Braxton exists in two worlds: qualitative and quantitative; left-brain and right-brain; technology-focused and human-centered. This ability to embrace opposing ideas characterizes Biffrey’s career, service to community, and approach to life.
Biffrey began his career working at a technology consulting startup. Success there led to consulting for IBM at Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, and William Mercer & Co. at Alcatel and BellSouth. At the same time, Biffrey nurtured his creativity, writing music and performing. Biffrey left the security of corporate positions to work with and lead startups solving business problems in the diverse areas of insurance, real estate finance, reverse engineering search algorithms, marketing and communications. This diversity in topics and problems to solve allowed Biffrey to create products and tools that are both useful and beautiful.
He continues to share his time and resources by serving organizations like House of Ruth Maryland, The Eubie Blake National Jazz and Education Center, and by mentoring small business owners. Biffrey currently serves on the Board of Directors Midtown Community Benefits District. He also actively volunteers with House of Ruth Maryland and The Eubie Blake National Jazz Institute and Cultural Center.
