Applied Development Secures Spots on BBJ Women-Owned List, BBJ Minority-Owned List, and Inc. 5000

2020 has been a tough year all around. Between the pandemic and widespread social injustices, we are all feeling the strain. However, at Applied Development, we know the importance of celebrating when we can and continuing to look for the bright points in an otherwise stressful year.

We are excited to announce that we have been recognized for the Baltimore Business Journal (BBJ) Largest Women-Owned Companies in Baltimore, the BBJ Largest Minority-Owned Businesses in Baltimore, and the Inc. 5000 List of the fastest-growing private companies in America.

BBJ Women-Owned and Minority-Owned Lists

Each year, the BBJ releases a Book of Lists that ranks the top companies in the Baltimore area, categorizing them in a variety of ways. Some of the other lists that the BBJ puts together include Largest Venture Capital Recipients and Top 100 Private Companies.

Being featured on this list is an honor for Applied Development and gives us a way to reach more businesses in need of our services. Additionally, CEO, Kimberly Citizen, was quoted in the list, providing advice about how to maintain a strong work ethic.

“Mornings are for me,” she begins. “I’ve learned over the years that taking time for myself is integral to my sanity and my success. I spend about two hours every morning meditation, doing breathwork, reciting affirmations, reading and moving my body…it keeps me centered and grounded through the day.”

Inc. 5000 List

We are humbled to be on the Inc. 5000 list again this year, not only making the list but jumping from last year by 576% to the 825th spot. Other companies that have been included on the list over the years include Intuit, Zappos, Under Armour, Microsoft, and Patagonia. Being included among such well-known names is an honor.

On average, companies who are on the 2020 Inc. 5000 list have achieved a three-year average growth of over 500% and a median rate of 165%. Additionally, these businesses account for over one million jobs added to the workforce over the course of the last three years.

Complete results of the Inc. 5000 list, including company profiles and more, can be found here. Applied Development, along with the rest of the companies, will be featured in the September issue of Inc., which hit newsstands on August 18th.

In addition, the annual recognition event will be held virtually from October 23rd to October 27th and include some of the greatest innovators and business leaders of our time.

A Word from Kimberly

“Receiving these honors has been humbling. Biffrey and I are proud of what we are building and even more proud of the team that is helping us to build it. Thank you to each and every one of our team members and contractors who work tirelessly every day to help the diversability (diverse ability) community.”
