Applied Development strives to deliver the best results to our clients. In an effort to expand our knowledge and proficiency in disability management, we continue to hire experts in the law and practice of 504 and 508 compliance. Our current contracts have allowed Applied Development to add sign language interpretation to our list of capabilities.

The number of deaf or hard of hearing workers in the federal government increases each year. American Sign Language (ASL) is the main form of sign language for the deaf community in the United States. Under the Rehabilitation Act, federal government agencies are required and encouraged to hire employees with targeted disabilities, such as impaired hearing. Creating employment opportunities for those with disabilities gives companies a competitive edge, adding to the unique perspectives and backgrounds their workers bring.

Applied Development is honored to support compliance with the Rehabilitation Act by providing ASL interpreters for deaf or hard of hearing employees of the Department of Veterans Affairs on two current contracts at the Washington D.C. VAMC and VHA Office of Community Care, so that a hearing impairment does not lessen the contributions of these valuable employees.

We want to give agencies the option to expand their employee base by providing the sign language interpretation services needed to help those with hearing impairment. These interpreters act as a communication tool for employees to create effective conversations between everyone in the organization.

Applied Development is responsible for filling these sign language interpretation positions with qualified workers who ensure that every person can fully participate and utilize their skills in the workplace. We do our job so that others are able to do theirs.
